Even with young Florian Haufe at the helm, the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein opened the new Bundesliga season just as the last one ended: victorious

The weak winds off Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance were not sufficient for the full distance of 15 flights, but even after twelve rounds the first summit meeting of the sixth Bundesliga season had worthy winners: Florian Haufe, David Heitzig, Dorian Heitzig and Miklas Meyer had opened their series with a weak sixth place, but then improved to become the team of the weekend. With five wins, one second place, two third places and three fourth places, the club from the Alster managed to achieve their first success of the new league season with a total of 31 points, one point ahead of the Bayerischer Yacht-Club.

"We feel great after this victory at the start of the season," said Florian Haufe, "our performance was a direct continuation of last year. It was a great three days at Lake Constance and a perfect start to the season. Our goal for the season is clearly to defend our title."

For the Bavarians, newcomers Veit and Teresa Hemmeter performed at their usual high level with Nick Beulke and Maximilian Hibler. Jan Seekamp, Eike Martens, Jens Tschentscher and Tjorben Wittor sailed to third place for Wassersport-Verein Hemelingen. With fourth place, the Seglerhaus am Wannsee club established a good starting point for the upcoming league weekends, but could have been even further ahead without an early start with three race wins. The two-time club champions from the German Touring Yacht Club will initially have to settle for ninth place in the table. The red lantern of the bottom of the first division hangs in the stern of the Lindauer Segler-Club for the time being.

At the season opener of the 2nd Bundesliga, which took place at the same time, the Seglergemeinschaft Lohheider See won with a commanding five-point lead against the Mühlenberger Segel-Club and the Bodensee-Yacht-Club Überlingen. Matthias van Holt, Kim Hedfeld, Jens Hedfeld and Paul Kübel successfully competed for the team from Lohheider See. Helmsman Matthias van Holt said: "The conditions played into our hands and we often had the right instinct with the wind. We are super happy."

At the bottom of the table, the Eckernförde Sailing Club, Lübecker Segler-Verein and Röbeler-Segler-Verein "Müritz" are in 16th to 18th place after the first second league matches on the Swabian Sea. The next league regatta for the first and second division teams will take place from 8 to 10 June in Tutzing.

Sailing is like a constantly refreshing declaration of love for life."
